How great is it having the freedom to do whatever you want with your creativity during personal projects? Completely showcasing your own voice is a rewarding experience in terms of getting away from team projects, bosses, tutors and criticism. But at the same time, how are you going to develop that voice of yours without some input from an outside perspective? Taking on criticism from others can lead you to endure a long process of editing, but your reaction to new learnings and opinions might surprise you in the way it changes how you want to say something with your work. I don't even know where to begin to tell you about the changing experiences I've had by simply emailing people in search for advice. Seek out the professionals in certain areas, acknowledge that by asking for advice you are telling someone you appreciate their opinion, therefore they will appreciate you, offer you all they have, and for all you know it even more. Expand your creative horizons, get involved with others and ultimately make something that matters. |
