It can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking teamwork will make work go faster. Yes in a lot of cases getting more people to help makes the whole process speed up, however when it comes to the creative industry, if we worked the same way we would not find ourselves so successful. Creativity is a field that allows each individual to think, feel, suggest, like or dislike completely different things. If we were all clones of each other than perhaps working together would solve a creative problem faster. But we know this is far from true, working in a team to come up with and edit ideas can be an extremely long process due to everyone having such different input. Sometimes it comes down to organising people into different sections, or splitting up into mini groups of 2 or 3. It comes down to some people having to sacrifice their input in a certain area, in order to propel the project forward. It's a matter of cooperation and compromise rather than an opportunity for everyone to feel the work reflects them personally 100%. We can't please everybody on the planet. That sometimes includes everybody in your team. Learn how to split up the work, how to work individually and then come together rather than getting straight into the work together. |
