I'm not talking about biting your nails. I'm talking creatively. And I'm talking more specifically about the bad habits that can prevent us from doing truly creative work. One of the worst habits we grow into is the constant belief that we're not creative enough, or good enough, or known well enough. I'm always talking about the creativity that kids hold and how precious that attribute is. The ability to have no concern for mistakes, failures, or consequences. Kids are honestly geniuses in the creative realm, the younger the better. If you managed to grow up with the same mindset you had as a child, I applaud you! Because becoming a big kid isn't all it's cracked up to be. Without even realising some of our greatest attributes are moulded into what society sees fit. They are some of the hardest habits to break out of because it's a part of our culture, a part of who we are. I'm not saying you're a horribly uncreative person as soon as you grow up, what I'm saying is it seems so obvious to me that every single human has the capacity to be just as creative as another, yet we've stooped to accepting when people believe "I'm not creative at all", "I can't draw", "I'm not the artist, you are". It's in all of us, the ones who go out there and pursue it are the ones who couldn't quite surrender that creative human attribute as they grew up... |
