Sometimes when I'm searching for an idea on how to represent my daily piece of advice I start forcing myself to come up with something. But other times I think "Ooh gummy bears...that'll work". Let me tell you something, the first way NEVER works as successfully as the latter. Let yourself fall and stumble into ideas, who cares what it has to do with anything? If it excites you, DO IT. End of story. This is a technique that blows away the brainstorming phase, it gets your mind a little more free and squishy ready to think up a storm of ideas that matter to the context of what you're creating, if that is how you wish to work. If you have a brief with certain requirements you can't always force yourself to abide by them from the beginning, as long as you do by the time you deliver final output. Trying to restrict yourself as soon as you get the restrictions will tense up your capacity for creative thinking. You like gummy bears and have some lying around? Go for it. Once your juices are flowing you will find it a lot easier to get down to business. For all you know your client loves gummy bears too and can't believe they never thought of it. |
