To 'finesse' is a verb my tutor's love to use close to deadlines when the final design works start to show. To finesse is to keep on top of those intricate details, to make the work as ultimately spotless and perfect as it can be. This isn't to say your work isn't allowed to be messy. However art is a visual concept right? The aim is to bring emotion and reaction to a viewer through visuals. Whatever you want that reaction to be you make that work as finessed as it can be to help you deliver. Details MATTER, they are the difference between someone receiving your work well and someone questioning you about "why is that there"..."why did you do that?" these questions are what we want when we actually have answers. If your viewers are spotting things that are distracting from their reaction you are low on finessence (new word I just made up, so claiming that). Pay attention to your details, they are the easiest thing to fix and can make the biggest difference. |
