One of the easiest ways to inspire creativity is to have a few hobbies, if you have interests in other things and knowledge of unique life experiences then you are more open to pathways for passion. Passion is something that really fuels creative ideas so it's not an opportunity you should pass off lightly. The lesson reminded me of one of the rare times I've decided to take up a new interest and seen it's effect on me creatively. My friend and I decided to join a pole fitness class on a whim one day, we loved it so much we couldn't help our weekly returns. Especially with common judgements against pole dancing/fitness and the little knowledge others had on how extreme of a workout this was, I became passionate about spreading the love for pole fit. A series of colourful illustrations came out of a project I did to create the 'pole fit kit', teaching users the history of pole fitness and dance. If I had never joined that class this work would never have existed for me. It's proven an immense amount of learning for me, both creatively and physically just from one spur of the moment decision. Not to mention the added bonus of getting out there and doing something to get out of your comfort zone can also teach your brain to get out of it's comfort zone while thinking. So get out there and do something whacky. |
