A great place to find positivity and inspiration is somewhere you've left a lot of memories. Go to places you remember from your childhood and see what happens to your creative vibes! A lot of you might look at this photo and think "cool... a bunch of trees". But to me it says a lot more than that, I think about family. I think back to a life where my biggest problem was that I couldn't have any icecream unless I finished my dinner. I remember looking at this very view over 10 years earlier while trying to get a ball out of the tree with a stick. I can look at this view and see the three massive pine trees that used to tower over our little brown house which we had to chop down. Nobody else can see this memory, and that's what makes it so amazing to me. You'll learn that people's response to visuals are highly dependent on personal experience. Something as simple as this view unleashes more in me than the average person, and the same goes for everyone with their own memorable places or objects. I used to want to explain why I did everything and what it meant to me personally, to allow people to understand why my work was special. But now I've realised it's not the most important part, and in fact one of my favourite things about some of my works is that I see things in them nobody else will ever have the chance to see or understand. |
