If you're like me and spend a lot of time working in front of a screen, taking a break by watching TV or checking out Facebook may calm your spinning brain, but it will not really help you get out of the zone. The other day I decided a walk would be good for my stressed mind rather than sitting down to watch another episode of my favourite show. You know what surprised me the most?...That rush of fresh air. And then I was surprised that fresh air surprised me. Is this really what I've come to?! The screen feels like my second home sometimes and it probably won't be long until people are watching a screen more than their own physical surroundings. Don't take the beauty of what we have out there for granted. It also taught me that sitting down for a half hour show or scrolling through Facebook can be difficult to stray from. These forms of media are designed to draw you in for as long as possible. A good walk outside could have you relaxed and feeling ready to get back in the zone after 10 minutes. I for one, am definitely going to be getting into some mini adventures for out-of-zone break times more often |
