One thing I always do in the morning when I wake up is check my phone for updates on social media, I've always thought this was just a method of opening my eyes without actually getting out of bed, but I've come to realise that this probably isn't the best solution. Especially for my creative side. Those moments of first waking up in the morning hold the power to let you think more clearly as you've subconsciously sifted through what happened the day before. It's a time where going over ideas from yesterday suddenly seems easier to understand where you may have gone wrong. This is why it might pay to get up, have a shower, eat some breakfast and get ready for the day all while having a creative think before taking in any new information from technology, you're brain isn't ready for taking in more right now! Read up on Tanner Christensen's post about this - he did a little experiment on this himself and found creative thoughts a bit more free flowing during the next morning's shower. |
