To be creative is not a gift passed down to a selection of privileged individuals, it's a skill anyone can practice! But where is a good place to begin if you haven't exactly ventured into this mysterious world? Begin by understanding that inspiration is everywhere. Try with the basics by getting a marker and some paper, then just make whatever marks come naturally to you before even thinking about them. Look around, what shapes do you see in your environment? Push away that little voice in the back of your head telling you your work is ugly or ridiculous by taking action before that voice even gets a chance to speak! You might find that these marks aren't actually random but rather inspired by your willingness to just go for it. Take a small notebook with you on the go, every time you spot something that triggers a reaction from you visually just sketch it down, write down the thoughts you have as you journey through your everyday life. Inspiration truly is everywhere, and although you may not have a new spark of inspiration 24/7, the capacity for it is constantly surrounding you. I like to think that inspiration is the perfect momentary crossover between time, space, and your mindset. You have the time, you have the space, now just get that mindset and your triple crossover moment could be waiting for you at any turn. |
