This is a statement that could help you out with creative block. Generally, those who suffer from creative block are trying to think of the best idea. The one that actually matters is somewhat easier to come up with. Ever felt that pressure of the minimalist style? You always feel like you want to keep going but it is actually quite perfect the way it is. The same thing can happen with creative thinking. You're trying to come up with the absolute best idea by thinking too hard, when really the one that actually matters is one of the first ones you came up with. This isn't to say you should stop thinking beyond your first idea, I'm all for coming up with 10,000 concepts. But it is definitely easy to sway off track in an attempt to find the best solution. When in doubt, try coming back to those initial ideas, what stand out as something that actually matters? |
