This here is the basic creative process. When deadlines start creeping up and it's time to buckle down and focus, going back to this model can really help get you back on track. Idea's are always changing, especially the good ones. A good idea generally has a variety of reject ones behind it that inspired each other a little more, and suggest that perhaps you can keep going. However, it could really hinder your creative process if you forget step 3. DO! Continuing to think and plan, then change idea, then think and plan then change idea is not going to help you visualise your journey and may even create a barrier for your ability to come up with new ideas. Start sketching! keep making and doing things, because the sooner you get them out of your head and on to paper or screen, the sooner you can see that the idea will work or that it's something you need to develop on. Try not to get caught up in the idea that you could start production of an idea only for it to change and waste your time. Your time is not wasted, this production phase may not have been successful as a final but it will definitely help inform where you go next, and help you to get out of the brain zone and into the real world. Personally I find the brain zone extremely draining, so GET SCRIBBLING! |
