You'll be surprised what you can find when you go places you've never been before, take that hunch that's telling you to explore and refrain from fixating yourself on having to plan or research first. Although this can be important for many tasks, there are some creative tasks that require you to just dive in the deep end. I'm not only talking about physical exploration of new environments, but perhaps an exploration into your own thoughts, of an idea you've had. If you don't know what you're doing that makes your potential discoveries all the more worth while. You won't be bound by rules - because you don't know any. You won't be cautious of consequences - because you haven't thought that far ahead. You will find new pathways that even 'professionals' haven't thought to take.
Why is it that children are able to have such crazy theories and wild imaginations? They have limited life experience and therefore more room to explore. They aren't fearful of judgement or getting things wrong, they don't have that barrier we so often come across when pursuing things we have never pursued before, and this is what allows them to learn so fast. Put yourself in the mind of a child, venture into the unknown and maybe you will learn something valuable you never expected. It's not about not knowing - it's about not being afraid to find out. |
