A lot of the advice I've given and received is around the idea of passion. I have a passion for passion, I believe no artwork can really have power behind it without a passion for what you're doing. However I was recently given some advice for a project to look at what I passionately hated, rather than what I passionately loved. It suddenly made me realise how this advice would benefit my work: > I won't be repeating an idea I've worked with countless times > Instead of reflecting on something I love, I can do a total 360 on something I hate, and bring to light a new perspective > Having the skill to change an entire perspective could be more valuable than simply portraying what I love > Perhaps being fuelled by hate could generate more impact than love... It made me realise that passionately hating something... is still passion, and passion is what drives creative work. |
